| BUCK WILLIAMS FAV SITES Here are some of my own
favourite sites which you might like to take a look at. It's a pretty random
group but I hope you find something useful (different?). I could have
included links to the likes of Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton and the Dixie Chicks
but you probably have those already. Instead, I have included links to sites and
things which make me smile, all with a country (-ish!) flavour! |

MY FAV ARTISTES AND GROUPS |

Raul Malo
If you don't already know, Raul is former frontman with The Mavericks
and is an inspirational singer, guitarist and songwriter. Mixing country
with rock n roll with tex-mex with latin, he is one of very few artistes
I could listen to all day long! Raul regularly tours the UK but tends to
use just two or three extra musicians making for a very intimate show.
And when he sings in Spanish... Anyway, catch him on his tour this
Autumn 2010. |

Dixie Chicks
Have to say that these girls are probably the band that got me back in
to roots music after all those years in the wilderness! With b*lls as
big as their talent, they are not afraid to stand out from the crowd (no
mean achievement in country music circles). If you haven't already done
so, check out any of their albums to hear great singing, great playing
and great songs! |

www.texaslightning.net
Definitely not British; these guys hail from Germany (and Australia). You may
have seen Texas Lightning representing Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest a couple of
years ago. A proper 'band' with great vocals and fab musicianship, they play a
mix of country classics plus their own country versions of the hits of Madonna
and Abba! Not a band for the purists but great fun nonetheless. |

www.rootntootn.co.uk
On a home-grown tip... Looking and sounding like something dragged
straight from the 1950's deep south, these three guys remind me of my mis-spent
youth busking around Europe belting out the songs of Hank Williams and Johnny
Cash! You wont find Rootn n Tootn with any backing-tracks; it's the live, raw,
real-deal complete with female slap-bass player and Dobro guitar!

www.tinac.net
What can I say about Tina C? Country comedy not for the faint-hearted!
Listen to Tina's lyrics and you will hear country whit and pathos at
it's best. You either love her or loathe her... and I love
her (him?)! |
